CSA - what's in a share?

A sample of a fall CSA weekA share from our farm is a bushel box filled with fresh produce distributed weekly from June through October, about 18 weeks total. We also offer delicious cage free, free range eggs from our completely spoiled chickens for an additional fee.  We base our share size on how much produce a family of four can consume in a week, given regular family meals.

Because we grow in connection with the seasons there is a  wonderful diversity of vegetables offered throughout the year.

In May and June we grow “cool season” veggies, like salad greens, peas, radishes, broccoli, and beets, to name only a few!

As summer blooms, so do the cut flowers, tomatoes, peppers, beans, cucumbers, summer squash, onions, carrots, and watermelons, also only to name a very few.

In the fall is a return of many of the cool seasons veggies that were available in the spring as well as new tasty additions like leek, apples, winter squash, rutabagas, parsnips, and pumpkins.

Every week in our shares, we have a list of what you are receiving and some delicious recipes if you don’t know how to use your veggies. Most people who join a CSA end up becoming much more educated about cooking and improve their diets significantly!

We also write a weekly newsletter detailing what has been happening on the farm and what you can expect in the coming week.

We lost another calf today. I am quite discouraged and down today. I feel like I didn't do enough and I am mad at myself for not knowing better. I keep saying to myself "you should have know that!" or
